The School Community

Tianwei Junior High School serves Grades 7 through 9 in Tianwei Township, a community in southern Changhua known for its flower and plant-nursery industry. The school welcomes students from the township and nearby villages.

Beyond the regular junior-high curriculum, Tianwei is also part of Changhua County's bilingual education initiative. This program helped shape my role at the school, and it is one of the main stories I share on this site.

The Bilingual Initiative

Changhua County's bilingual education initiative places foreign English teachers in partner schools across the county. The goal is not only to add more English classes, but to give students more chances to hear, see, and use English throughout the school day.

At Tianwei, this includes morning assembly, classroom lessons, campus displays, after-school clubs, school tours, and international exchange activities. Together, these programs help students experience English as part of real school life, not just as a subject in a textbook.

At our school, the initiative is organized around eight pillars covering classroom teaching, school-wide programs, and international partnerships.

My Teaching Role

I joined Tianwei in 2024 as the school's foreign English teacher. I teach Grades 7 through 9 and support several programs connected to the bilingual initiative, including morning assembly, school tours for visitors, the after-school English Club, and rotating English displays around campus.
